Rockport — A public hearing is scheduled for the Tuesday Nov. 12 Select Board meeting at 6:30 p.m. to receive comments on a liquor license application for the proposed escape room and entertainment center at 461 Commercial St.

According to the application, the business, in the former State of Maine Cheese Co. building, will be called Trapt.

The owner, Tiffany Ford, is requesting permission to serve beer and wine.

She has already received Planning Board approval for the business, which will have escape rooms on the second floor and an entertainment center on the first floor. A sketch of the layout in the application calls for pool tables and an arcade on the first floor as well as a kitchen that will be leased to a third party.

Ford, who lives in Rockport, has owned the vacation rental company On the Water in Maine since 2006, according to the company’s website.

Ford previously stated during her application to the Planning Board that she chose to pursue the project in response to the numerous requests she receives at her vacation rental company for group activities in the area.

Ford said via email that the business is planned to open in early December.
