Searsport — Ruth A. Spacco, 73, went to be with her Lord unexpectedly at the home of her Father on July 11, 2019. She was born in Portland on Nov. 14, 1945 the daughter of Shirley A. and Irene J. (Ward) Cook.

Ruth was a hard worker. In her early years she worked as a cook at Glady’s Restaurant, she later worked at Waldo Shoe Company sewing shoes, and took a second job working at the Frozen Food Locker.

Ruth loved to dance. She and her husband would go to the Yacht Club where they lived in Massachusetts every weekend and dance. She was a great cook and loved to bring the family together with her meals. Ruth was very kindhearted, her family was very important to her, and she was always there when a family member needed a helping hand. Ruth was a great seamstress and would sew clothes when she was not making doll clothes for her family members. She was very interested in making sure the family both near and far knew each other and would plan family reunions yearly with a theme that she would plan for the entire year. Because of her close family ties, she was also very interested in genealogy.

She is survived by, and sadly missed by her loving husband, Frank Spacco; her father, Shirley Cook; sister, Brenda Williams; brother, Ronald Cook; sisters-in-law Barbara Cook and Alicia Cook; her loving daughter, Sherry Howard; grandchildren Danika Howard and Michael Robinson; one great-grandchild, Peyton Lash, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Irene Cook, and one brother, Lee Cook. A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Faith Temple of God Church 189 Lincolnville Avenue, Belfast. Arrangements are handled by Young Funeral Home Searsport.
