From the desk of Events Coordinator, Kasey Bielecki,

November is here which means the Festival of Lights Craft Show is right around the corner. Now in its 40th year, the Festival has become a local holiday tradition. On Nov. 30, 50 Maine based crafters and artisans will set up at the Rockland Elks Lodge for the 40th Annual Festival of Lights Craft Show.

Things that will be sold include sugar and salt scrubs, greeting cards, fudge, jewelry, sea glass and stone art, Christmas ornaments, hand-carved wooden toys, candles, jams, jellies, pickles, caramels, felted soaps, hand-painted mugs, cutting boards, quilts, knitted items and so, so, so, much more! The Festival of Lights Craft Show is truly an artisan event that you will want to attend Saturday, Nov. 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A suggested $2 donation will be asked for at the door, and all entrance proceeds go towards Pope Memorial Humane Society and their mission to care for and place unwanted and abandoned animals in loving homes; promoting responsible pet ownership and humane treatment of all animals. An increase from the 2018 event, there will be over 50 tables worth of local artisans, crafter's, and artist's products for sale. Additionally, the first 750 patrons through the doors will receive a Pope Memorial Humane Society reusable tote bag.

We know that kitten season is still going strong this year but we don’t want you to forget about our senior animals. One, in particular, has caught my eye. Puddle, a handsome 12-year-old tabby cat that is good with cats, kids, and dogs. Puddle loves a good head scratch and is more than happy to snuggle right into your arms. I can’t help but visit him every time I walk through the cat wing. He is looking for a warm home with sunny windows and cozy blankets. If you’re looking to add a pet into your home, come visit our senior animals. Their personalities have developed and (for the most part) you know exactly what you are getting.

Wish list: dry kitten chow, pate style chicken recipe canned cat food, gift certificates to Hannaford, Walmart and other local businesses.
