WALDOBORO — The Medomak Valley Players will open “Bye Bye Birdie," a Tams-Whitmark Production, on Friday night, Nov. 8, in the Ronald E. Dolloff auditorium of the high school on Manktown Road.

Performances for the fall musical are Fridays and Saturdays, Nov. 8, 9, 15 and 16, at 7 p.m. and Sundays, Nov. 10 and 17, at 2 p.m. A Sock Hop opportunity for patrons to visit with the "Birdie" characters will follow the Nov. 10 matinee in the cafeteria.

"Bye Bye Birdie" concerns the romance of a composer-publisher-agent and his secretary, plus the drafting if his rock ’n roll star into the army. In a well-meant publicity stunt, they all descend on a small Ohio town and proceed to turn it upside down. The results are hilarious and musically rewarding.

The production team includes Director Peter Stuart, Assistant Director Maida Cordero, Assistant Director/Choreographer Dixie Weisman, Technical Director Matthew Kopishke and Costume Director Kerry Weber. In addition, many parent volunteers have contributed their time and expertise in set building, painting, hair and make-up, donations, and all other aspects of the production.

The principle cast in the MVHS production features Owen Weber as Albert Peterson, Emily Lupien as Rosie Alvarez, Wyatt Sykes as Conrad Birdie, Allison Lupien as Kim MacAfee, Kalina Chazin-Knox as Mae Peterson, Andrew Beaucage as Mr. MacAfee, Eliza Nelson as Mrs. MacAfee, Lucy Jameson as Rhonda MacAfee, and Kolyn Mattson as Hugo.

Additional cast members are Cameron Baines, Lyra Stevens, Zaniah Puchalski, Chloe Blake, Emma Kunesh, Sophie Brooks, Grace Owen, Nolan Grubb, Alyssa Flaherty, Hannah Carr, Ian Doughty, Norah Doyle, Jason Holbrook, Michaela Staples, Lora Jaymes, Chantel Emery, Ivy Ladd, Megan Lee, Rachel Gross, Ella Donaghy, Scarlett Abbott, Lily Rogers, Coleman Swain, Justin Mahoney and Sean Sebrey.

Tickets are $14 reserved; general admission $12 for adults, $10 for students and senior citizens. They can be bought online at or call 832-5389, ext. 149. Tickets can also be purchased at the door. Sock Hop admission is $5 at the door, free with a completed coloring page available at all SAD 40 elementary schools.
