Lobsterpalooza raises funds for food pantry, energy and child hunger assistance

ROCKLAND — The seventh annual Maine Lobsterpalooza raised $1,402, the largest amount in the event's history, for the Area Interfaith Organization's Food Pantry, Energy Assistance and Child Hunger programs.

Lobsterpalooza took place Oct. 20, at the Elks Lodge in Rockland and was sponsored by Blueberry Broadcasting LLC.

Each year, tickets are sold to the public for the opportunity to sample favorite dishes of participating professional and amateur chefs and to vote for Peoples Choice awards.

All proceeds from the event benefit AIO, which is entirely run by volunteers, according to AIO Board Representative Diann Henderson.

The organization is now officially AIO Food Pantry, Energy assistance and Child Hunger. In the past fiscal year AIO served: Food Pantry: 4,265 households, which include 10,968 individuals; Energy Assistance, 625 vouchers issued; Child Hunger, 340 kids enrolled in the backpack program.

The date is already set for the eighth annual Lobster Palooza to be held at the Rockland Elks, Oct. 25, 2020.
