Tibbetts poetry reading at Lincolnville library

Elizabeth Tibbetts

LINCOLNVILLE — Poet Elizabeth Tibbetts will read from her book "Say What You Can," published in April by Deerbrook Editions, on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m. at the Lincolnville Community Library.

Tibbetts writes poems about her work, her roots in Maine, and her love and concerns for the natural world. She is also the author of "In the Well," which won the Bluestem Poetry Award in 2002. Other awards include a fellowship and grant from the Maine Arts Commission, and the Penobscot Watershed Poetry Prize. Her poems have appeared in numerous journals and have been read on The Writers Almanac and Poems from Here.

Having grown up in Camden, Tibbetts now lives in Hope with her husband and works as a nurse. She said she has a special connection to Lincolnville as her great-grandmother, Mary King Heal, lived two houses up the street from the library and Mary’s sister taught school there.

The library is at 208 Main St. in Lincolnville Center. For more information, call 706-3896 or email
