William Post takes over as Rockport town manager

Rockport — William Post officially took over as Rockport town manager  Aug. 1. He said he has had a busy first few days on the job, trying to meet the town staff and catch up on a number of projects that are planned or underway.

Post was chosen for the position at the June 10 Select Board meeting.

Prior to taking the job in Rockport, he had spent the last eight years as town manager of Bowdoinham. He previously served as town manager in Bradley, Damariscotta and Waldoboro, and as Knox County administrator.

Post said via email that he was attracted to Rockport “because it is an excellent community and has been well-run for years, both from the Select Board and Town Manager perspectives.”

He also noted that several “exciting projects that are underway or being considered,” including the Rockport Library, the expansion of the West Rockport Fire Station, and “the possible redevelopment of the former RES site.”

“In addition,” he stated, “ the number of residents serving on boards and committees shows a passion for what the residents want to see for the community.”

He commended Town Clerk Linda Greenlaw for her work finishing up a number of tasks during the month of July, when she served as interim Town Manager.

Post lives in Waldoboro with his wife, Jennifer, two teenage children and two yellow labs.
