Rockland — Two groups of women, most from the Midcoast, have earned spots in a world-wide billiard tournament on Friday through Thursday, Aug. 9-15 in Las Vegas, Nev.

The teams include "Comeback Kids" out of the Time Out Pub in Rockland, captained by Ashley Robinson, and "Rainbow Rack" of Waldoboro, captained by Megan Libby.

The "Kids" include Robinson of Cushing, Leslie Sullivan of St. George and Dennessa Robbins of Thomaston.

Robinson said the process of earning a spot in Vegas is to play in a league during the year. Then there is state championship play and two teams earn spots.

The pool players will compete against more than 250 other women's league teams from across the country.
