Color Me Cured to raise funds for diabetes research Aug. 17

Jul 12, 2019
This year's Color Me Cured walk for diabetes research takes place Aug. 17.

Thomaston — Color Me Cured, a walk/run to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, will take place Saturday, Aug. 17, at the former Lura Libby School in Thomaston.

Registration will take place at 9:30 a.m. the day of the race only, and will be $25 per individual, with the registration fee waived and free T-shirts for individuals who raise at least $100 in donations. For teams, the registration fee is $25 for each member; teams that raise more than $400 will have the registration fee waived, and each team member will receive a free T shirt and a free raffle ticket.

The walk/run will start at 10 a.m. There will be prizes, raffles and snacks.

All proceeds from the walk will go to the foundation, a global organization that funds research on Type 1 Diabetes.

Approximately 1.25 million Americans have Type 1 Diabetes, and 40,000 are diagnosed every year. Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease that causes the pancreas to stop producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food.
