Weather Brief May 20, 2019

Midcoast Forecast - May 20, 2019 PM

Monday started off soggy with rounds of showers moving through the Midcoast ahead of a cold front began dragged east by an area of low pressure over Quebec. Skies began to clear during the afternoon setting the stage for late day storms prompting a severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9pm Monday. Returning sunshine during the afternoon will steadily raise temperatures helping to destabilize the atmosphere and trigger some storms for the evening/early night. Some storms may become severe with strong winds, lightning, and locally heavy rainfall. Rain will come to an end overnight as the cold front pushes east and low pressure slowly moves into the Canadian Maritimes. Clouds will linger behind the storm on Tuesday followed by more sunshine into the mid week as high pressure builds in from the west. Temperatures will stay mild and pleasant with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s.

Thursday will start off sunny but rain will make a return late in the day as another round of low pressure moves in late in the day, clearing Friday morning. High pressure builds back in behind this for the weekend with a mix of sun and clouds and temperatures climbing to the 60s Saturday and 70s Sunday. We'll see a chance for a few showers moving through the region Saturday night into Sunday morning with a few more spotty showers for Memorial Day Monday.
