‘Maine Photo Show’ 2019 opens

Boothbay Harbor — As usual, the Midcoast is well represented in the annual juried “Maine Photography Show,” opening Saturday, April 6. Now in its 14th year, the MPS will run through May 3 in the Boothbay Regional Art Foundation’s downtown gallery.
For the 2019 show, photos were solicited in four categories: Special Category — Infrared; Black and White; Color; and Student. Show juror was professional photographer and educator Ron Rosenstock.
From the 775 outstanding images submitted by 295 photographers — 242 photos from 93 people in Lincoln, Knox and Waldo counties — Rosenstock selected 109 images for the exhibition. Cash awards to first, second, third and honorable mentions in each category will be presented, including a $500 award for Best of Show, on the opening day.
Midcoast photographers with work in MPS 2019 include Lisa Mossel Vietze, Appleton; Lynn Karlin, Belfast; John Boeckeler and Kathleen Toubman, Camden; Laurie Walker, Friendship; Laura Zamfirescu, Monroe; Herman Meisner, Northport; Ed Kenney, South Thomaston; Catharine McCann and Jeanette Phillipps, Rockland; Judith O'Dell, Rockport; James Flachsbart, South Thomaston; Elizabeth Root Blackmer and Hugh Blackmer, St. George; Susan Bell, Thomaston; Janann Sherman, Vinalhaven; Judy Bernier, Waldoboro; and Owen Bundy, Warren.
Midcoast resident Norbert Leser will have a small Featured Artist show running concurrently with the MPS. Mounted in a room upstairs, Leser’s "The Extraordinary of the Ordinary" will have 27 images.
Regular gallery hours for the “Maine Photography Show” will be Thursdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Further details are available online at mainephotographyshow.org.
