Weather Brief Dec 12, 2018

Midcoast Forecast - December 12, 2018

After a fresh coating of snow fell Tuesday night, high pressure has returned to the region bringing abundant sunshine and cold air to the Midcoast Wednesday. This trend will continue through the late week as high pressure slowly shifts east through New England with sunshine, and lows in the single digits and teens and highs in the 20s and low 30s. The high will slide southeast offshore heading into the weekend as low pressure moves into the Mid Atlantic Friday night and into Saturday morning. This will push clouds back into the Midcoast with rain showers possible along the coast through the day as mild air pushes in from the south with highs into the low 40s. Current data suggests the bulk of the rain will hold offshore which may limit the duration of rain and coverage area through Saturday.
High pressure will build in from the north on Sunday helping to clear out some of the cloud cover and taking temperatures back down to the the 30s for highs. Another low pressure will slide through the Gulf of Maine on Monday that could bring some light snow to the Midcoast but the exact track of this storm may also change. Check back for updates!
