Augusta — The regular season has drawn to a close for high school field hockey squads, with the playoffs set to begin in the coming days.

Among those postseason-bound teams are a pair from Waldo County, while the Knox County duo has begun its offseasons.

Belfast and Mount View of Thorndike will host first-round playoff games in Class B and Class C North, respectively, while Oceanside of Rockland and Camden Hills of Rockport find themselves on the outside looking in on the postseason.

The following is a breakdown of the final Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings and, if applicable, playoff pairings for area teams:

In Class A North, Camden Hills (3-10-1, 27.7551 points) finished 10th, while Skowhegan (14-0, 198.1633 points) finished first in the 12-team region.

The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs, thus, the Windjammers failed to qualify.

In Class B North, Belfast (12-2, 136.0204 points) finished fourth and Oceanside (2-12, 13.4694 points) 15th. Gardiner (13-1, 182.9592 points) finished first in the 15-team region.

The top 10 teams qualify for the playoffs, thus, the Lions are playoff-bound, while the Mariners failed to qualify.

In a quarterfinal playoff, No. 4 Belfast will host No. 5 Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield (10-4) on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m at the high school. Belfast defeated the Huskies 2-1 in a regular-season contest on Sept. 18 in Belfast.

It also will be a rematch of a semifinal playoff clash from last season, which the Huskies won 3-2 in double-overtime. MCI went on to win the state championship.

In Class C North, Mount View (9-5, 85.0000 points) finished third, while Winthrop (13-1, 144.6939 points) finished first in the 11-team region. The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs, thus, the Mustangs are playoff-bound.

In a quarterfinal playoff, No. 3 Mount View will host No. 6 Maranacook of Readfield (5-9) on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 3:30 p.m. Mount View beat Maranacook 3-0 in a regular-season game on Sept. 25 in Readfield.
