Rockport — The Rockport Garden Club was formed in 1930 to keep Rockport beautiful, to educate its members and the community on local horticultural needs and to award scholarships for the pursuit of horticultural-related or environmental related degrees.  Scholarships are awarded annually in June to Camden Hills Regional High School graduating seniors and community adults who return to continuing education in those areas of study. The three 2018 Rockport Garden Club awards went to those applicants that proved curriculum suitability, academic record, community service, recommendations and level of need.

The first award went to Marta Weeks Denny, Camden Hills graduate and daughter of Eric and Andrea Denny of Rockport.  Denny is undecided in her course of study, choosing environmental studies as one of her options.  She will be attending either the University of Vermont or Connecticut College.

Suzannah Gray, daughter of Tom and Annie Gray of Rockport, is also a Camden Hills graduate this year. Gray lists environmental science/engineering as her first choice (besides biology and geology) for her course of study at Mount Holyoke.

Kara Robak (not pictured) is presently a student at Colby College where she is studying for a bachelor's degree with a major in Geology.
