Rockland — The Monday Night Blues series continues June 18 with the J.P. Soars and the Red Hots, playing 7 to 10 p.m. in the upstairs music room of Time Out Pub, 275 Main St. Admission will be $15 at the door.

Soars started his blues recording career a decade ago, and his catalog has received extensive airplay on XM Radio, Top 50 status on the Living Blues charts, Blues Music Award nominations for Best Contemporary Male Blues Artist of the Year and more. A gritty and expressive vocalist, Soars elicits signature tones from hollow-body guitars plus a homemade two-string cigar box guitar for his incendiary slide guitar playing.

In the past two years, Soars and the Red Hots have shared the stage with Buddy Guy, Joe Bonamassa, Brian Setzer and Larry Graham; and played before 10,000 people in Brazil. Soars also has been part of Southern Hospitality.

The Red Hots is one of the tightest units on the scene, featuring bassist Cleveland Frederick and longtime drummer Chris Peet. The trio has been touring extensively this year through the United States and Europe; and have a new CD, “Southbound I-95.”

Upcoming in the weekly series are: June 25, Diane Blue/Lisa Mann Band ($15); July 2, Rockin Johnny Burgin Band ($10); and July 9, TBA. Doors open an hour before shows; schedule subject to change.
