Providence, R.I. — Nine-year-old Rowan Stewart made quite an impression in the pool at the 2018 SEEK Team Specialty Meet at Brown University.

Stewart, a member of the Penobscot Bay YMCA Sailfish youth swim team, was one of seven pool athletes to represent Maine at the Saturday and Sunday, April 14-15 event and the Midcoast youngster competed in eight events.

Stewart earned her spot in March at the Maine Junior Olympics as she finished in the top three and attained an “A” national age-group motivational time in short course yards in the 50 and 100 breaststroke races. She finished third in both yard-distance events.

Swimmers needed to have at least one "A" national age-group motivational time in order to participate in the meet. Rowan had "A" times in the 50 breast, 100 breast, 100 backstroke and 100 individual medley.

The following is a breakdown of Stewart’s places and times at the SEEK meet (which is meters not yards):

50-meter freestyle — 8, Stewart, 35.29.

50-meter breaststroke — 3, Stewart, 48.19.

100-meter backstroke — 4, Stewart, 1:29.96.

400-meter freestyle — 3, Stewart, 6:06.73.

50-meter butterfly — 14, Stewart, 43.26.

100-meter breaststroke — 4, Stewart, 1:45.31.

50-meter backstroke — 8, Stewart, 42.17.

100-meter freestyle — 9, Stewart, 1:22.86.
