Ashwood Waldorf School hosts April events

The Ashwood Waldorf School Serve-A-Thon will take place on April 27 and 28.

Rockport — Ashwood Waldorf School, 180 Park Street, Rockport, is hosting three special events in April.

A conversation with master Waldorf educator Catherine Hopkins will take place on Tuesday, April 24 at 6 p.m. Hopkins will lead a discussion about how the Waldorf curriculum addresses developing children's social-emotional health, and how parents can support their children’s social health at home. The event is free and open to the public, and will be held in the community room on Ashwood's campus.

There will be a behind-the-scenes tour of the school on Wednesday, April 25, 8:15 to 10:30 a.m. After the tour there will be time for questions and conversation. Advance registration by April 23 is required. The tour is free, and all adults are welcome. For more information, contact or 236-8021.

Ashwood Waldorf School will hold its third annual Serve-A-Thon on April 27 and 28. During the Serve-A-Thon, Ashwood will partner with local nonprofits to offer two community-wide days of service. Ashwood students, faculty, and family volunteers will participate in community service projects, which include assisting the Loaves and Fishes Lunch Program, Pope Memorial Humane Society and PAWS animal shelters, Youthlinks, Habitat for Humanity, Hospitality House, Coastal Mountains Land Trust, Hills to Sea Trail, Megunticook Watershed Association, Quarry Hill and Bella Point, Knox Center for Long Term Care.

In conjunction with the Serve-A-Thon, Ashwood will also host a public American Red Cross Blood Drive at the school on Friday April 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
