Rockland — A Belfast woman was charged Monday, April 9, with filing a false report after police said she falsely claimed that she had been assaulted at a city pub.

Misti Blair, 26, was issued a summons for making the false report, according to Detective Sgt. Joel Neal of the Rockland Police Department.

Blair told police that she had been assaulted early Sunday morning. The investigation turned up evidence that the assault had not occurred, and when confronted by police, she admitted she had made up the claim, Neal said.

Filing a false report is a Class D misdemeanor.
