Midcoast makes ‘Artists’ Choice’

Feb 13, 2018
Waldoboro artist Bernadette deCesare’s “Quiet Moments” is part of the current River Arts juried show.

Damariscotta — River Arts on Route 1 invites the public to the opening reception for its newest exhibition, "Artists' Choice," featuring the work of artists throughout Maine with artwork in a wide variety of media including sculpture, photography, collage, painting, ceramics and fine craft — representational or abstract. The opening reception will be held Friday, Feb. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Juror for the show is artist and educator Tina Ingraham. Midcoast artists whose work was selected include Liz Donald of Camden; Nancy Tang of Frankfort; Petrea Noyes of Lincolnville; Jeffrey Wolff of Rockland; Roberta Baumann of South Thomaston; Gail Karlsson of St. George;  Kathy Felch of Union; Bernadette deCesare and Joyce Steel of Waldoboro; Paula Horton of Warren; and Barbra Whitten of West Rockport.

River Arts holds 10 themed, open, juried exhibitions per year, with some of Maine’s most prominent art community members as jurors. More than 1,000 different Maine artists have exhibited in these shows; and more than 7,000 people visited the gallery and participated in events and workshops last year.

The show will hang through March 9. Gallery hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call 563-1507, email or visit
