Pine Tree Power supporters are trying to trick voters into borrowing more than $10 billion to acquire Versant and Central Maine Power and turn them into a government run utility, all with misleading claims it will lower our electric bills.

We ratepayers deserve the truth. Contrary to what Pine Tree Power is saying, Versant and CMP are not the reason our electric bills have gone up so much over the last two years. Both are only allowed to charge us for electricity delivery by law. Electricity supply, the part that keeps going up, is negotiated by the Public Utilities Commission and supplied by completely different companies. Not Versant, not CMP, not even Pine Tree Power can lower that part of our bill.
