    Fire damages island workshop

    A fire heavily damaged a workshop on Vinalhaven Wednesday afternoon. There were no injuries. The fire started near a wood stove in the workshop at 15 Ingerson St. owned by Roger Hussey, said Vinalhaven Fire Chief Marc Candage.     Weekend winter storm watch for Midcoast; anticipated snow forces cancellations

    Lighthouse museum proposes memorial walkway

    The Maine Lighthouse Museum wants to raise money by converting the sidewalk in front of its 1 Park Drive complex into a memorial walkway. The museum has sent a letter to the Rockland City Council asking permission to replace the sidewalk with a 275-foot-long walkway consisting of 4-by-8-inch clay brick pavers.
