    Myers benefit dinner, auction Sept. 13

    Nine-year-old St. George resident Lydia Myers was diagnosed with leukemia in April of this year. Longtime family friend and benefit organizer Cathy Ansart describes Myers as bright, sweet, and creative. “She loves to help people,” Ansart said. Now the community has the chance to help her.     Union Fair serves mix of competition, entertainment and livestock

    The grounds were packed for the first weekend of the 2014 Union Fair, beginning Saturday, Aug. 16. There were numerous events to appeal to people of all ages and interests, including a pig scramble, horse pull, talent show, demolition derby, Maine Wild Blueberry Queen coronation, and plenty of live music.

    South Thomaston celebrates Heritage Day

    The Wessaweskeag Historical Society hosted South Thomaston Heritage Day Sunday, Aug. 10, with an exhibit primarily focused on maps of the surrounding area from the 1800s. There were also old school portraits, as well as an abundant amount of ancient artifacts from the town. The Midcoast Community Band also performed in Memorial Park.

    Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Show attracts large crowd

    Hundreds of people gathered in Harbor & Buoy Parks Friday, Aug. 8, through Sunday, Aug. 10 to see what various artists, architects, craftspeople, and designers had to offer during the Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Show.     St. George Days brings parade to Tenants Harbor

    St. George held its annual four-day summer celebration, beginning with a potluck dinner Thursday, July 17 and ending with a slow-pitch softball game Sunday, July 20.     Washington's 67th annual Strawberry Festival

    The Washington Fire Department was filled with strawberry delicacies and the sounds of live music performances during the 67th annual Strawberry Festival Saturday, July 5. The attendees enjoyed a variety of strawberry desserts including shortcake, pie, and even strawberry pizza.
