THOMASTON — Watts Hall Community Arts offers a diverse range of programming for children and families this spring at 174 Main St./Route 1.
“As a mom myself, I’m always looking for opportunities to expose my daughter to the arts,” said Kendray Rodriguez, managing director of Watts Hall Community Arts. “Our upcoming spring programming includes a family-friendly offering each month. We’ve never offered this many all-ages performances before, and I’m excited to see how the community responds.”
Kicking things off Saturday, March 11, at 6:30 p.m. is Double or Nothing, a comedy juggling and variety show performed by “Showtime” Steve Corning and Shane Miclon. Audience members can expect fast-paced juggling routines, escape artistry, audience participation, physical comedy and original music.

On Saturday, April 8, at 11 a.m., Maine-based kindie rock band Fun Run will bring its “Go Have Some Fun with Fun Run” concert to the stage at Watts Hall. Husband and wife duo Zack and Maria Reinstein will treat the audience to an upbeat and interactive live musical performance featuring singing, guitars, ukuleles, and even a bouzouki.

Rounding out the season of family programming is the Theatre at Monmouth, which will bring its touring production of “The Reluctant Dragon” to Watts Hall Saturday, May 6, at 3 p.m. “The Reluctant Dragon” tells the tale of Charity, who meets a tea-drinking, poetry-loving dragon on the edge of town. With the help of the hilarious and heroic Sir Giles, Charity and Denis D. Dragon work together to convince the villagers that a dragon can be friendly. Through this fun and exciting adventure, young audiences learn the importance of teamwork, accepting others, and solving problems together.
Watts Hall Community Arts is the nonprofit tasked by the Town of Thomaston, Maine, to manage and promote use of the second floor of the historic downtown building named for Samuel Watts, 19th-century sea captain, ship builder and town benefactor.
