WALDOBORO — Medomak Valley hosted a rare Thursday night high school wrestling meet on Jan. 12 as the Panthers welcomed Winslow, Skowhegan and Nokomis of Newport to their den.
In the quad-meet, the Panthers beat the Black Raiders 54-15 and Warriors 52-27 and lost to the River Hawks 42-30.
The Panthers returned to the mats on Saturday, Jan. 14 in a quad-meet hosted by Camden Hills in Rockport. In that meet Medomak Valley beat Foxcroft Academy of Dover-Foxcroft 36-24 and Winslow 48-12, and lost to the host Windjammers 54-24.
The individual Medomak Valley results, with Panthers listed first, from the Jan. 12 meet were:
113 pounds — Nathan Staples pinned Willow Merchant, Win, at 0:57; pinned Terryn Shields, Skow, 2:41; and won by forfeit over Nokomis.
120 pounds — Colby Benner pinned Addison Duplessie, Win, at 1:09; was pinned by Miller Foss, Skow, at 1:41; and won by forfeit over Nokomis.
126 pounds — Mariah Young pinned Elizabeth Dionne, Win, at 5:41; was pinned by Jordan McDaniel, Skow, at 0:26; and won by forfeit over Nokomis.
132 pounds — Nathan Legere won by forfeit over Winslow and Skowhegan; and was pinned by Roger Leonforte, Nok, at 1:53.
138 pounds — Zach Steeves won by forfeit over Winslow, Skowhegan and Nokomis.
145 pounds — Shamus Pease pinned Lucas Spencer, Win, at 4:39; won by forfeit over Skowhegan; and lost to Jacob Cote, Nok, 2-0.
152 pounds — David Boynton was pinned by Caden Trask, Win, at 0:37; was pinned by Aiden Clark, Skow, at 0:56; and won by forfeit over Nokomis.
160 pounds — Grady Pease won by forfeit over Winslow and Nokomis; and was pinned by Michael Welch, Skow, at 1:54.
182 pounds — Cole Bales lost to Pedro Garcia, Win, 7-2; pinned Nick Welch, Skow, at 1:28; and won by forfeit over Nokomis.
220 pounds — Marshall Addy won by forfeit over Winslow; was pinned by Caleb Pratt, Skow, at 4:59; and won by major decision over Gage Gross, Nok, at 12-4.
285 pounds — Nathan Gess pinned Alex Crews, Win, at 1:44; was pinned by Kobe Butters, Skow, at 0:48; and pinned Sean Calloway, Nok, 1:25.
