OWLS HEAD — A long-abandoned sailboat and other debris were removed Wednesday by volunteers from a beach in Owls Head.
A dozen citizens came together Jan. 11, armed with a chainsaw, trash can and pickup trucks to bring the debris to the town’s stump dump.
The vessel has been grounded near the end of Harborside Terrace for about two years. The former owner of the vessel abandoned the boat. Neighbors had been requesting the town take action.
