THOMASTON — Korena Widdecombe Morse, 60, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 24, 2022, passing peacefully at her home.

Korena was a very giving person and would often go without to ensure others had what they needed. An avid animal lover, her last pup Jack was her love and companion.

Attending school in Thomaston, she graduated from Georges Valley High School in 1980.

Korena was a certified nursing assistant, a dog groomer and jeweler, always eager to learn new things.

Korena was a natural people person. She worked for the department of human services. She took great pleasure in working as a CNA, taking care of elderly people. In her later years, she worked at KFC until closing and went to work at Pizza hut with her KFC crew, whom she loved working with. She was proud of her grandchildren and would tell anyone that would listen.

In her spare time, she enjoyed talking to her many friends over coffee, painting, making jewelry, genealogy, and most important to her were her grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Wesley ”Bub” Morse (whom she met at 14 years old); her mother Sandra Wiley; her biological father Clarence Widdecombe; her adopted father Elson Johnson; and her brother Wayne Johnson.

She is survived by her daughters Candi Johnson and husband Chad, and their children Della, Sarah, and Mary of Thomaston; Carrie Searle and husband Blain, and their children Wyatt, Sebastian and Piper of Waldoboro; brother Scott and his wife Andrea of Machias; brother-in-law William “Bill “ Morse who was a huge help after her husband’s passing; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

As per Korena’s request, no funeral services will be held. A celebration of Korena’s life will be held on Sunday, Jan. 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Thomaston Legion Hall, at 10 Watts Avenue in Thomaston.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Pope memorial animal shelter in Korena’s name.
