LINCOLNVILLE — Matthew Pendleton, 47, of Lincolnville has been charged with murder in the Jan. 6 death of Kevin Curit, 47, also of Lincolnville.
On Friday, Jan. 6, at approximately 9:39 a.m., the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from 54 Thorndike Road in Lincolnville for an unresponsive male. Sheriff’s deputies responded and found Curit deceased, according to a news release issued Saturday night by the Maine Department of Public Safety.
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit responded. Detectives and evidence technicians worked throughout the day and into the early morning hours of Saturday conducting interviews and processing the scene. An autopsy was conducted later that morning at the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta. As a result of the autopsy, the death was ruled a homicide. The cause of death is being withheld at this time, as requested by the Attorney General’s Office.
On Saturday evening, State Police Detectives arrested Pendleton of Lincolnville and charged him with murder, according to the state Public Safety Office. Pendleton was taken to the Waldo County Jail in Belfast where he is being held without bail.
He is expected to make his initial court appearance at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10. This story will be updated.
