OWLS HEAD — One person was taken to the hospital by ambulance Saturday afternoon following a two-car crash on Route 73 in Owls Head.
The crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Jan. 7.
Witnesses told the Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputy responding to the crash that a 2010 Ford Focus driven by Lorraine Fowles of Owls Head pulled out of a driveway and attempted to head toward Rockland but veered into the oncoming lane and struck a 2014 Silverado pickup truck heading in the opposite direction. The truck was driven by Christopher Brown of Rockland.
The Ford Focus ended up on the opposite side of the road with considerable front end damage. The woman who was driving the vehicle got out, appeared disoriented and then went into the house of the driveway where she had pulled out, according to the witness.
The truck had four passengers including three children. An adult passenger, Kirby Gushee, and Fowles had minor injuries and were taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport by Rockland emergency medical services.
Rockland EMS and the deputy went to the house and spoke to the woman who had come out of the house.
The vehicles were towed by Creek Hill Towing.
The investigation is active and charges are pending, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
