WARREN — On Jan. 4, 2023, at 5:45 in the evening, George E. Burgess, 69, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side. George was born on Nov. 21, 1953, to Arthur and Sophie (Wyka) Burgess, he was child six of seven.

George loved his home and was proud to be able to live in the house he was born and raised in. George was truly happiest while on his property. Over the years George ran a foreign car repair shop and a small construction business, all of which were based at the homestead in Warren. After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease he took a job as a bus driver for MSAD 40. He enjoyed his many years on the bus and would present little treats to the kids on Christmas and the last day of school.

George looked forward to the fall and deer hunting season, and most years he would tag out on the first day. He loved fishing the St. George River and always looked forward to the annual apple pressing and haying parties.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 42 years, Mary J; his son Benjamin and his wife Jennifer; and his grandson Pierre.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 22, beginning at noon at the family homestead at 600 Vaughn’s Neck Road in Warren.
