ROCKPORT — Sharon (House) Rowling, 79, passed away Dec. 25, 2022, with her husband and friend, Charles Rowling, by her side, at home in Rockport. Born in Augusta April 10, 1943, she was the daughter of Randall H. and Lorraine (Bullerwell) House.
Sharon was employed at Health Tex, Augusta Mental Health Institution, until starting West Gardiner Beef with her family. After her retirement, she was involved with the Order of the Eastern Star and the Rockland Lodge of Elks, BPOE 1008, where she was a former chair officer. Her hobbies included crafts and especially woodworking which she referred to as “sawdust therapy.” Sharon enjoyed the pool at her home in West Gardiner, then after marrying Charlie, she loved spending time at the lake cottage, kayaking, feeding the ducks, and socializing during happy hour.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Charles H. Rowling; sons, Todd Pierce and wife, Lisa, Walter “Bub” Pierce and wife, Betty; daughters, Belinda (Gilley) Biondillo and husband, Ed, Bridgett Gilley, Dawn (Gilley) McMaster and husband, Doug, Shelley Gilley; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sharon was predeceased by her brother, Randy House and grandsons, Chad McMaster and Darrell Hanson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Charles Rowling, Karen Deuso, Trina Kelly and Bonnie Bippes for their care and help during this difficult time.
A graveside service and celebration will be announced in the spring in West Gardiner and will be announced.
