Christmas may have passed, but we are still celebrating at Pope Memorial Humane Society. The fifth annual PMHS Pet Angel Tree was a massive success, and we cannot thank our community enough! You came out and emptied the tree of tags, bought gifts, wrapped them and helped make each animal’s time with us at the shelter that much more comfortable. Your generosity is awe-inspiring. Thank you. Thank you to everyone who shared the Pet Angel Tree story, bought gifts and helped spread the word. You’ve made difference in the lives of homeless pets in need. You’re a part of their story and a part of them finding their perfect families! Thank you!

Is your cat or pup due for its rabies vaccination? Good news! Pope Memorial Humane Society is hosting a low-cost rabies vaccination clinic at the shelter on Saturday, Jan. 7, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Rabies vaccines will be $10 (cash only), with all proceeds benefiting Pope Memorial Humane Society. If you plan to attend, please visit popehumane.org to register your pets for the clinic.

If you have proof of prior rabies vaccination, please bring it with you. For more information or questions, please call Pope Memorial Humane Society at 207-594-2200 or visit popehumane.org. Thank you to Dr. Mimi Moore for volunteering to administer the vaccines.

Waffle.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t highlight at least one adoptable animal this week. Waffle is stretching her legs. This classic tabby has moved from a condo to our foster coordinator’s office. She has settled in nicely and is enjoying the new views. By interacting with more people and potentially other cats, Waffle will continue to come out of her shell and show her true personality. After 400+ days at the shelter, it’s time for this gal to find a home! Happy New Year!

Wish list: Dry kitten food, wet kitten food, poultry flavored pate-style canned cat food and gift cards to local businesses to purchase supplies for the shelter. Thank you.
