LINCOLNVILLE — The Lincolnville Budget Committee and Select Board each gave the nod to a special town meeting that will be held on Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. in the meeting room at the Lincolnville Town Office.

The budget committee approved the warrant for the special town meeting at its Jan. 3 meeting and the Select Board followed suit on Jan. 4.

Residents will be asked to approve three articles that are not in the current budget. If approved, funding for these projects will come from the town’s share of the American Rescue Act funds.

Article 2 requests $6,500 for the purpose of repairing the mechanical systems (plumbing and heating) at the Town Office.

Article 3 requests $2,500 for the purpose of repairing the recreation floats for use at Breezemere Park.

Article 4 will request $2,941 for the purpose of resurfacing the tennis courts adjacent to the Lincolnville Central School at the Town Office.

If approved, the funds for these projects would come from funding received by the town from the Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds, also known as the American Rescue Act.

“When these projects are done and any of the funds go unused, they will go back into unassigned fund balance and the voters can decide what to do with those unexpended funds,” said Town Administrator David Kinney.

Both the budget committee and Select Board recommend approval of all three articles.
