Bank deposits in Knox County branches declined slightly in 2022.

Deposits at banks insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation totaled $1.952 billion as of June 30, 2022, according to the FDIC. This is a decline of 2 percent (nearly $50 million) from June 30, 2021.

The $1.952 billion is the second most on record. Deposits totaled $1.783 billion in 2020, $1.705 billion in 2019 and $1.518 billion in 2018.

These figures do not include money at credit unions.

Camden National Bank remains by far the largest bank in terms of deposits with nearly $1.1 billion in 2022 which accounted for 55 percent of all bank deposits in Knox County. Camden National had six branches in Knox County — two in Camden and one each in Rockland, Thomaston, Union and Vinalhaven.

The First National Bank has the second most deposits in 2022 at $290 million, 15 percent of all deposits. The First has four branches in Knox County — two in Rockland and one each in Camden and Rockport.

Bangor Savings Bank had $181 million in deposits, 9 percent of all deposits in 2022. Bangor Savings has four branches in Knox County — Rockland, Rockport, Union, and Warren.

TD Bank, National Association has $160 million in deposits in 2022, 8 percent of the total deposits in Knox County. TD Bank has two branches in Knox County — Camden and Rockland.

KeyBank National Association has $70 million in deposits at its one Knox County branch in Rockland, amounting to 3.6 percent of all Knox County deposits.

Machias Savings Bank has $69 million in deposits at its one Knox County branch in Rockland, amounting to 3.5 percent of all Knox County deposits.

Rockland Savings Bank has deposits of slightly less than $69 million at its one Knox County branch in Rockland, amounting to 3.5 percent of Knox County deposits.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust has deposits of nearly $36 million at its one Knox County branch in Rockland, 1.8 percent of all Knox County deposits.
