All month long in January, the Camden Public Library offers a special “Jumpstart January” series of hands-on workshops for adults. These programs are designed to nurture mind, body, and creativity, as well as inspire a positive start to the new year. Sign-up is required ahead of time, and spots are limited. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 6 p.m. Resting into the New Year Phase 1: Rest (on Zoom)
Join local wellness instructor Hester Kohl Brooks in the first part of a 3-part online Yoga Nidra series. Lay down in the comfort of your own home to experience the 3-phase Daring to Rest Yoga Nidra method. In this phase (Rest), you’ll tend to physical exhaustion. Free.

Thursday, Jan. 5, 6 p.m. Virtual Watercolor Paint-Along (on Zoom)
Learn watercolor techniques through a guided paint-along session, led by artist Erica Qualey. All participants will be provided with the same drawing, so the focus will be on watercolor techniques. Free.

Tuesday, Jan. 10, 10:30 a.m. Relationship Intelligence Workshop (In person at the library)
This workshop will provide participants with a new perspective on their personal relationships, with tools to cultivate and sustain them. Led by Michael Shell and Rev. Gabriel Burford. Optional further discussion and reflection will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Free.

Tuesday, Jan. 10, 6 p.m. Slow Stitching Mandalas (Hybrid: In person and on Zoom)
Join local artist Robinsunne for a guided, contemplative practice of sewing mandalas. Participants may finish in class or carry their beautiful project into the new year. This workshop will take place simultaneously in person at the library and on Zoom. $10 materials fee required.

Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2 p.m. Beginners & Senior Fitness Dancing (In person at the library)
Rita Swidrowski, a senior and dance instructor at the YMCA, will lead a variety of cha-chas, twists, boogies, and mambos to pop songs old and new. No dance experience is necessary and each person is encouraged to follow his or her body’s needs and abilities. Rock in the new year with some dance! Free.

Amy Hand will teach several adaptations of this easy book craft. Books can be entered into the Annual Accordion Book Art Show at the library. This workshop will take place simultaneously in person at the library and on Zoom. $10 materials fee required.

Tuesday, Jan. 17, noon Painting Morning Sun in Watercolor (In person at the library)
Watercolor artist Jaeohk Cho Keenan will instruct on how to paint morning sun and sunrise landscapes with watercolor. Techniques are also applicable for painting other kinds of light. $10 materials fee required.

Thursday, Jan. 12, 2 p.m. Resting into the New Year Phase 3: Rise (on Zoom)

Students will reflect on the use of abstraction as a response to landscape and create their own abstract landscape works. Artists to be explored include Andrew Wyeth, Vincent Van Gogh, Joan Mitchell, and John Walker. Led by local artist Karen Jelenfy. $10 materials fee required.

Tuesday, Jan. 31, 6 p.m. Valentine Papercraft (Hybrid: In person and on Zoom)
Paper and book artist Joelle Webber will instruct on how to create sculpted paper roses and other Valentine papercrafts. This workshop will take place simultaneously in person at the library and on Zoom. $10 materials fee required.
