WELLS — Medomak Valley wrestlers used the holidays to unwrap mat gifts they bought — and earned — for themselves as a handful of Panthers realized topnotch success at the annual Marty Ryan Atlantic Invitational on Friday, Dec. 23.

At the end of the high school mat event, Cole Bales (182 pounds) and Marshall Addy (220) finished second, Nathan Gess (285) third and Gabe White (126) fourth.

The individual Medomak Valley results, with Panthers listed first, were:

120 pounds — Colby Benner was pinned by Chase Frost, Bonny Eagle, at 2:53; and was pinned by Maxwell Stewart, Kennebunk, at 2:17.

126 pounds — Gabe White pinned Emily Ahern, Kennebunk, at 1:34; was pinned by Jim Neal, York at 0:45; pinned Kylee Carter, Nokomis, at 3:21; and lost by technical fall to Keith Cook, Maine Central Institute, 16-1, in the consolation final. White finished fourth.

132 pounds — Nathan Legere was pinned by Connor Nelson, Bonny Eagle, at 1:19; and was pinned by Drew Webber, Marshwood, at 5:04.

138 pounds — Zach Steeves was pinned by Nate Foote, York, at 0:41; won by technical fall over Cassandra Gill, Maine Central Institute, 18-3; and was pinned by Mario Real, Kennebunk, at 2:31.

145 pounds — Shamus Pease was pinned by Cody Bubier, Marshwood, at 2:40; pinned Caden Carll, Biddeford/Thornton, at 4:22; and was pinned by Joey Fusco, Fryeburg Academy, at 5:48.

152 pounds — Grady Pease pinned Tim Brunk, Bonny Eagle, at 1:28; was pinned by Ben Orso, York, at 0:56; and lost by major decision to Alexander Albright, Wells, 9-0.

182 pounds — Cole Bales pinned Brock Bernard, Lisbon/Oak Hill, at 1:55; pinned Theo Russell, York, at 1:23; and was pinned by Eli Potter, Wells, at 1:03 in the championship final. Bales finished second.

220 pounds — Marshall Addy pinned Peyton Blanchard, Kennebunk, at 1:10; pinned Broden Shaw, Biddeford/Thornton, at 0:31; and was pinned by Kaden Cyr, Bonny Eagle, at 3:35 in the championship final. Addy finished second.

285 pounds — Nathan Gess pinned Jonathan Edgerly, Biddeford/Thornton, at 0:26; was pinned by Nathan Malloy, Wells, at 1:26; pinned Magnus Doucette, Bonny Eagle, at 2:50; and pinned Sean Calloway, Nokomis, at 0:50 in the consolation final. Gess finished third.
