ROCKLAND — Community members came together to prepare Christmas takeout meals.

The community takeout meals will be available to pick up from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Rockland, located next to the public library.

Lead volunteer Linda Garson Smith said Primo Restaurant of Rockland is preparing the entire turkey dinner which will include mashed potatoes and gravy and roasted vegetables. Other community volunteers made pies. Maine-ly Poultry of Warren donated 220 pounds of turkey.

Other community members donated reusable bags for people to bring home the meals.

Garson Smith said she expects 125 meals to be given out but that 200 have been prepared. Whatever is not picked up will be distributed to the Hospitality House, police departments, and emergency departments for their workers.

The Adas Yoshuron Synagogue congregation accounts for many of the volunteers but other community members have also donated their time on Christmas.
