ROCKLAND — In a yearly tradition to embrace the spirit of giving, members of the Rockland Elks Lodge 1008, plus their family and friends, assembled 70 food baskets for local families Saturday morning, Dec. 17. The effort took less than a half hour.

“This many hands make it quick,” said Alan Heal, a Trustee of the Rockland Elks. Almost 40 people turned out for the 2022 event.

The food baskets were then delivered around Knox, Waldo and Lincoln counties to families in need through a partnership with Salvation Army.

Rockland Elks has been assembling these baskets every year near Christmas for about 80 years.

The Rockland Elks Lodge is a chartered member of the national Order of Elks organization, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.

The Order was founded on the principals of charity, justice, brotherly love and fidelity.
