FRIENDSHIP — Cedric P. Delano, 85, of Friendship, passed away with his children by his side after a period of declining health.

He was born at home on June 10, 1937, to Cyrus and Grace Delano. He attended local schools. He spent most of his life clamming and lobstering up to the age of 81. He had many talents and interests including skiff building, making Early American reproduction furniture, antique bottle collecting and metal detecting. He was also a very talented painter and exceptional gardener, and he loved rebuilding pinball machines and bowling. He was an avid hunter and loved ice fishing.

He had a heart for God and spent many years in the prison ministry. He believed it was his life’s work to share the word of God. He was the father of seven children that he dearly loved.

He was predeceased by his son Chris Delano; his parents, Cyrus and Grace; his brother Howard Delano; and his sister Pat Chapman. He is survived by his son James Delano and his wife Debbie; daughter Deborah and her husband Chip Nugent; daughter Jenny and her husband Andrew Bonarrigo; daughter Wendy Delano and her partner David Babcock; son Matthew Delano and his wife Brandie; son Jesse Delano; brother Kendall and his wife Roberta; sister Marlene Powell; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Cedric will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

A private memorial and burial was held with his children. Arrangements were made by Burpee Carpenter and Hutchins Funeral Home. He was laid to rest at Brookland Cemetery in Waldoboro.
