TOPSHAM — Camden Hills swimmers, including the defending state Class A champion girls, began the 2022-23 pool campaign with a proverbial splash as the Windjammers spit with Mount Ararat.

The girls returned to their winning ways with a 104-43 victory over the Eagles, while the boys lost 63-18 in a season-opening dual-meet on Monday, Dec. 12.

In their first meet, the Windjammer girls earned 10 first places.

Last year, for the first time since 1981, the Windjammer girls made huge ways as they dove to a state championship, this time in Class A.

The individual CH girls results from the initial meet were:

200 medley relay – 1, Camden Hills (Sarah VanLonkhuyzen, Adella Brainerd, Lucy Vannini, Lola Black), 2:08.31.

200 freestyle – 1, Sally Vannini, 2:15.65; and 3, Violet Born, 2:39.80.

200 individual medley – 1, Rana Abess, 2:31.99.

50 free – 1, Autumn Hill, 31.29; 2, Miranda Yaosis, 32.14; and 3, Mackenzie Dillon, 32.98.

100 butterfly – 2, Lucy Vannini, 1:16.51; 3, Adella Brainerd, 1:16.91; and 4, Mackenzie Dillon, 1:26.24.

100 free – 1, Lola Black, 1:06.42; 2, Autumn Hill, 1:12.97; and 2, Miranda Yarosis, 1:12.97.

500 free – 1, Sarah VanLonkhuyzen, 5:55.03; and 2, Violet Born, 7:10.64.

200 free relay – 1, Camden Hills (Rana Abess, Miranda Yarosis, Mackenzie Dillon, Sally Vannini), 2:01.74.

100 backstroke – 1, Adella Brainerd, 1:09.99; 3, Lucy Vannini, 1:19.19; and 5, Lola Black, 1:25.85.

100 breaststroke – 1, Rana Abess, 1:19.34; and 2, Sally Vannini, 1:29.72.

400 FR – 1, Camden Hills (Adella Brainerd, Violet Born, Autumn Hill, Sarah VanLonkhuyzen), 4:31.52.
