VINALHAVEN — Richard G. Tolman, 86, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, at his home, following a long illness. A lifelong resident of Vinalhaven, Richard lobstered out of Vinalhaven all his career. He was noted as an expert at splicing rope. He was the beloved husband of Marguerite Young Tolman; father of Ashley Tolman, Courtland Tolman (Roxanne) and Jamie Thomas (Yvonne), all of Vinalhaven; three grandsons, Dana Richard Gardner Tolman of Westbrook, Byron Thomas and Liam Thomas of Vinalhaven.

Other than his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother, Robert Tolman, and his best friend Henley Day.
