ST. GEORGE — The Maine Warden Service is working with the Knox County Sheriff’s office to locate a missing 71-year-old woman.
The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife issued a news release Thursday morning Dec. 8 concerning 71-year-old Francine Laporte of St George.
Laporte was reported missing by her husband Paul Laporte Wednesday, Dec. 7. He awoke to find that his wife was not home and after several hours of her not returning he went looking for her. Eventually, he called the Knox Sheriff’s Office to report her missing.
Her phone was left at the residence and authorities believe she likely left the residence on States Point Road on foot.
The Warden Service is asking anyone who may have seen a female walking in the area of States Point Road and/or River Road in Saint George on the early morning of Wednesday Dec. 7 to call the Augusta State Police dispatch at 207-624-7076.
Authorities are not certain what she was wearing but she is believed to have a dark/black jacket.
