THOMASTON — On Thursday, Dec. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Thomaston Public Library, local author Amy Truesdell will discuss her new book, “From Binghamton to the Battlefield,” which draws the reader alongside Rollin B. Truesdell, a prolific letter-writer and early enlistee in the Union Army, as he transitions from eager recruit to war-weary, battle-tested veteran during the Civil War.
Amy is a writer and consultant whose appreciation of family and cultural history led her to fulfill a long-held dream of narrating the Civil War experiences of her great-great-grandfather. Formerly she was a lead foreign affairs officer with the U.S. Department of State, specializing in conflict resolution in Central and East Africa.
This event is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase and signing by the author. For more information, please contact the Library at library@thomastonmaine.gov or (207) 354-2453.
