I want to express my gratitude to the town of Camden for my being able to walk to almost everything I need. I can walk to the library, the bank, to French and Brawn, the post office (which hopefully will reopen soon), several churches, two bookstores and the drugstore, gift shops and restaurants — and a bit further off, the wonderful Renys, and Rankins, the hardware store. All this, on sidewalks and often under shade trees, with schools and parks and the harbor and mountain to boot.

May many more towns be so in time to come.

May the empty houses in town come to be filled with people who live and even work here, and share this walking together.

(Wishful thinking: that we still had phone books so we could get in touch with our neighbors.)
