ROCKLAND — A single-family house in Rockland sold last week for more than $1 million, the second time that has occurred as the price of residences continues to shatter records.

The sale occurred Nov. 15 and was registered Nov. 18 in the Knox County Registry of Deeds for 87 Waldo Ave. The sale price was $1,020,000.

The house was built in 2013 and sits on 1.66 acres on Rockland Harbor. The house has 1,648 square feet of living space that includes an accessory apartment. There is also a garage for a recreational vehicle. The city has the property and buildings assessed at $582,200 for property tax purposes.

In September 2014, a single-family home at 85 Samoset Road sold for $1.2 million.

Five single-family homes sold in Rockland since the pandemic struck in March 2020 have exceeded $500,000.

The median sale price for the past three months (Aug. 1 through Oct. 31) in Knox County was $393,700, according to the Maine Association of Realtors. This is up from $370,000 during the same period in 2021, $295,000 in 2020, $239,000 in 2020.

The median price is down from the record of $437,500 recorded from May through July 2022.

Correction: The 87 Waldo Ave. house is the second single-family stand alone house to sell in Rockland for $1 million or more. The original article incorrectly stated it was the first.
