ROCKLAND — This year, South School staff and students were invited to bring photos to recognize their friends and family members who have served. Over the past two weeks, display easels in the school’s front lobby filled up with photos for all to see with messages of gratitude and identifying veterans as heroes.

Another of the commemorative easels displayed in the school.

Veterans Day is a day set aside specifically to honor veterans who have selflessly devoted themselves in sacrifice and service to their country. Through age-appropriate lessons about historical and influential wars in which the United States has been involved, students learned about the contribution of our armed forces to the nation.
