ROCKPORT — The Midcoast will soon have a new Dunkin’ to provide coffee and donuts at the former site of Kentucky Fried Chicken at 1096 Commercial St. in Rockport.

KFC closed its doors Feb. 1.

Emily Fitzgerald of Methuen, Mass. has an approved building permit for a $110,000 renovation of the building. The property is owned by Dennis O’Connell of KBP Foods out of Kansas. Bob Hynick of KBP said the KFC lease was up and Dunkin’ is taking over the space.

Mary Stanton of Drasco Signs has a permit from the town for a $15,000 project including providing the signage for the building.

The date of the opening of the new business is not yet known.
