ROCKLAND — On Nov. 10, at the Rockland Public Library, Ivan Maisel will offer a presentation on his personal journey learning to carry grief. His 2021 memoir “I Keep Trying to Catch His Eye” reflects on the suicide of his son Max and explores with grace the reality of losing a child. Maisel will also examine how we discuss mental health and ways to remove stigma and boost mental health resources.

Ivan Maisel is a sportswriter who has covered college football for nearly four decades. He has been honored eight times for Best Story by the Football Writers Association of America, and twice by The Associated Press Sports Editors, which in 2019 named him one of the ten best sports columnists. Maisel earned a bachelor’s degree in American studies from Stanford University.

This event will take place in the Community Room and will be simultaneously livestreamed over Zoom; the Rockland Public Library is located at 80 Union St. For more information or for Zoom links, please email by 4 p.m. on Nov. 10.
