ROCKLAND — Academy award-nominated producer-writer-director Todd Field (“In the Bedroom”), the director of the newly released film “Tár,” will be at the Strand Theatre, 345 Main St., Friday, Nov. 4, to introduce the 8 p.m. screening of the film. Field is currently a Midcoast resident.

“Tár” stars Cate Blanchett as the iconic musician Lydia Tár and is set in the international world of classical music, where she is widely considered one of the greatest living composer/conductors and first-ever female chief conductor of a major German orchestra. The film examines the changing nature of power, its impact and durability in our modern world. The score for “Tár” is composed by Grammy-winning composer Hildur Guðnadóttir, the first female composer to win an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and BAFTA Award for Best Original Score.
