AUGUSTA — The high school football regular season has drawn to a close as four of five Midcoast squads turn their attention to potential deep postseason runs.

And, of the five area gridiron squads from Knox, Waldo and Lincoln counties, four made the grade and move onto the playoffs.

Medomak Valley of Waldoboro, which ended the season with a three-game win streak, clinched the top seed in Class C North for the second straight season, while Oceanside of Rockland also will host a quarterfinal playoff game in the same region.

Belfast and Camden Hills of Rockport will be on the road for playoff games, while Mount View of Thorndike found itself on the outside of the postseason.

The following is a breakdown of the regular-season records for area teams, playoff pairings and dates and times for contests:

In Class C North, Medomak Valley (6-2, 124.1803 points) finished first, Oceanside (5-3, 110.9375 points) third and Belfast (1-7, 60.1190 points) eighth. The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs, thus, the Panthers, Mariners and Lions are playoff-bound.

In the quarterfinals, No. 1 Medomak Valley will host No. 8 Belfast on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. at McMann Field in Bath. The Panthers defeated the Lions 42-6 on Sept. 6 at Belfast.

In the quarterfinals, No. 3 Oceanside will host No. 6 Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield (3-5, 77.8225 points) on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. The Mariners defeated the Huskies 54-14 on Sept. 9 at Rockland.

In North eight-man large school division, Camden Hills (2-5, 93.9560 points) finished fourth, while Mount Desert Island (5-2, 117.4285 points) finished first in the five-team region. The top four teams qualify for the playoffs, thus, the Windjammers are playoff-bound.

In the semifinals, No. 4 Camden Hills will play at No. 1 MDI on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. The Trojans defeated the Windjammers 30-22 on Oct. 7 at Bar Harbor.

In North eight-man small school division, Mount View (1-6, 69.3877 points) finished seventh, while Dexter/Piscataquis (7-0, 142.8571 points) finished first in the eight-team region. The top six teams qualify for the playoffs, thus, the Mustangs failed to qualify.
