ROCKLAND — There were minor injuries Wednesday evening when a sport-utility vehicle and a Knox County Jail van struck head-on.

The driver of the Honda Element will be issued a summons for failure to maintain control of his vehicle, according to Rockland Police Sgt. Scott Redmun.

The crash occurred at about 5:30 p.m. Oct. 12 on Old County Road near the parking lot of the Rockland Golf Club.

The Knox County Jail transport van, driven by Warren Heath, was heading north on Old County Road when the sport-utility vehicle driven by Spencer Reuillard was heading south and crossed the center-line, leading to the crash.

One inmate was in the transport van and taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport for minor injuries.

Rockland police and Rockland emergency medical services responded. Knox County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Dwight Burtis arrived on scene.

Both vehicles were destroyed and were being removed by 6 p.m. by Camden Exxon.
